2013 Elderton Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon

Matured for 22 months in French oak. Opaque black dark crimson red colour with a dark crimson red hue. The nose presents aromas of blackcurrants, dark plums and a touch of liquorice followed by vanillin cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate is generously flavoured with ripe blackcurrant and dark plum fruit underpinned by vanillin cedar and spice. The velvety tannins have an underlying firmness. Aftertaste of ripe blackcurrant, dark plum, vanillin cedar and spice. Lacks the depth and complexity expected at this sort of price tag.
