A very distinguished and classy Yarra Valley Cabernet.

Produced from De Bortoli’s oldest Yarra Valley vineyards dating back to 1971 and named in honour of Dame Nellie Melba. Superb colour displaying an inky black crimson red core with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Pronounced mulberry and red currant aromas intermingle with some bay leaf and black olive notes over a background of cedary tobacco characters and spice. Medium bodied, refined and elegant the palate possesses beautiful rich blackcurrant and mulberry flavours over some well integrated cigar box characters, bay leaf infusions, tobacco and spicy cedar. Dryish finish with very fine grained yet structured tannins. Excellent length with a long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberry, subtle bay leaf, cedary tobacco characters and spice.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 13.5%

Other Reviews…
This is vice regal stuff, bred in the purple. The bouquet is extremely expressive of the variety at its best, but it’s the palate that works the magic, simultaneously elegant and intense, dripping with cassis, the tannins honed so fine they gently take your hand and lead you off into the night. Drink by 2038.
