2013 Cigliano Chianti Classico

Aged for 24 months in botte (big oak casks) and concrete tanks this is a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino. Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. Lifted aromatics of ripe dark cherries sit alongside a hint of liquorice with vanillin cedar, dusty earth and spice ensuing. Medium bodied the palate has good richness and is quite savoury featuring flavours of ripe dark cherries subtlety infused with dried herbs over a back drop of earthy leather characters and spicy cedar. Dryish finish with fine grained tannins showing excellent integration. Aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, dried herbs and earthy cedar.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
