Ashton Hills Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir has traditionally been a blend of fruit from Ashton Hills vineyard along with that of Jim Grigg's vineyard next to the cemetery near Uraidla in the Piccadilly Valley of the Adelaide Hills. The quality and yield of the 2013 vintage allowed winemaker and owner Stephen George to bottle two variants of this wine. Blend No. 1 is made only from Jim Grigg's Uraidla vineyard (Cemetery Block) whilst Blend No. 2 is a blend of Jim's and Stephen's fruit, as every Piccadilly Pinot Noir has been in the past.
Semi translucent dark crimson black tinged colour with bright crimson purple hue. The nose exhibits excellent intensity with ripe dark cherries intermixed with dark plum top notes followed by some subtle anise, dried meats, cedar and spice. Fleshy and rich the palate delivers a youthful fresh flavour profile of ripe dark cherries and dark plum over some strawberry, anise and cedar with a spicy finish. Excellent power with supple velvety tannins and long dark cherry, ripe dark plum and spicy cedar aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14%
