2012 Yabby Lake Vineyard Single Vineyard Chardonnay

Brilliant pale straw colour with a very faint tinge of green around the edges and watery hue. The nose shows good lift with scents of white peach and nectarine intermixed with some biscuit and cashew followed by a faint whiff of nougat and mineral. Light across the palate with an elegant refined flavour profile of nectarine and white peach followed by some cashew, biscuity oak and subtle minerality. Clean dry finish with a moderately creamy mouthfeel. Medium to long aftertaste of delicate white peach, cashew, nectarine and mineral.
Cellar 4-5 years (2017-2020).

The sheer grace, intensity and precision of this wine is remarkable, its barrel ferment origins still part of the silky tapestry of the stone fruit and citrus flavours, but trying to deconstruct the components verges on sacrilege. The length is prodigious, as is its future. Drink by 2025.
