2012 Willoughby Park Kalgan River Chardonnay

This very well made Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented, with about 40% wild ferment, and matured for 10 months in French oak with partial malolatic fermentation.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a distinctive greenish tone around the edges and watery hue. The nose shows good intensity with aromas of white peach intermixed with some funky wild ferment characters and cashew followed by some wet stone and spice. The palate features an elegant creamy mouthfeel along with rich flavours of white peach, funky wild ferment characters, cashew, citrus and spice. Clean dry finish. Excellent length and mouthfeel with long white peach, funky flinty cashew and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2014-2019).
