The Hungarian ‘Bikaver’ wine translates to ‘Bulls Blood’ and dates back to the 1500’s when the Hungarians were fighting the Turks. It was a wine for strength in battle! The first Veritas ‘Bulls Blood’ was produced in 1967 by R. H. Binder and the label remains quite similar still today.

Made from bush vines planted in the 1880’s with maturation taking place mostly in French oak and a small portion of American oak. Opaque black dark red colour with a very dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice, dark plum and black cherry aromas meld into some earthy vanillin cedar, dark chocolate and spice notes. Rich and round with a spicy finish the palate dishes up opulent flavours of liquorice, dark plum and juicy black cherry which flood the mouth over a backdrop of earthy vanillin oak and spicy dark chocolate. Soft supple mouthfeel with velvet smooth tannins. Long aftertaste of liquorice, dark plum, ripe black cherries, earth and spicy vanillin oak.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
