Sourced from the Stonewell vineyard, the fruit for this wine was basket pressed and aged in a combination of new and used French oak for nineteen months. The cooler 2012 vintage delivered fruit of outstanding quality with the resultant wines riper than the 2011’s but not as rich as the 2010’s displaying incredible balance between the fruit weight and acidity giving the wines great natural structural qualities.

‘A powerful, structured Barossa Cabernet with the legs to cellar 10 plus years.’

Opaque inky black crimson colour with a dark crimson red black hue. Showing good lift the nose offers up scents of ripe blackcurrants intermixed with some liquorice followed by some cedary tobacco, subtle bay leaf and spice. Full bodied the palate boasts a rich concentrated flavour profile of ripe blackcurrants interlaced with traces of bay leaf, cedar, light tobacco and spice. Dryish finish with firm solidly built tannins providing the framework. Finishing slightly chewy, there’s plenty of muscle in this wine. Very long and persistent aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, cedary tobacco and spice. An outstanding Barossa Cabernet.
