A wonderful Shiraz, which counterpoints the complex flavour profiles of two of Australia’s great Shiraz producing areas.

After a 2 year absence Tatiarra’s Super Premium reds make a triumphant return with the 2012 vintage. Produced in miniscule quantities this wine is 50:50 blend of a top barrique from the Tatiarra Vineyard in Heathcote and one of the best barriques that Ben Riggs produced from McLaren Vale.

Totally opaque inky black dark crimson colour with a very deep dark crimson red black hue. Scented aromas of liquorice and blackberries are followed by dark plum, subtle dark chocolate, vanillin cedar and spice. Rich and powerful, there’s also elegance and poise here resulting in a beautiful harmony between the fruits restrained opulence and its underlying structure. Mouthfilling flavours of liquorice and blackberries are dominate over a background of dark plum, vanillin cedar and spicy pepper. The velvety tannins have an underlying firmness. Excellent depth finishing with a very long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberries, dark plum, spicy vanillin cedar and pepper.
Cellar 8-10 years.

First Tasted March 2014
Superb colour saturation displaying an inky black core with a deep dark crimson black tinged hue. On the nose powerful ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice scents are overlaid by vanillin oak and confectionary followed by some light mocha and spice. Full bodied, the fleshy McLaren Vale fruit is a perfect marriage with the Heathcote components masculine structure. Flooded with ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum flavours the palate possesses a copious amount of richness with toasty vanillin oak, confectionary, spice and pepper nuances also present. A supple velvety texture conceals the rock like tannin structure. Excellent power and depth with very long aftertaste of ripe blackberries, liquorice, vanillin oak and spicy pepper.
Cellar 8-10 years (2022-2024).
