- ABV 12.5%
- Closure: Stelvin
Held back to allow the additional complexity from age to shine through this is an excellent example of mature Marsanne. Brilliant straw colour with tinges of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of citrus and subtle bees wax meld into honeyed toast notes with hints of lemon butter and spice ensuing. Rich honeyed peach and citrus flavours are overlaid by toasty characters with some lemon butter and spice also present. Texturally full and round it finishes dry with good fresh acidity. Excellent concentration and depth with a long oily toast, peach, citrus, honeyed lemon butter and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
The 2012 vintage signified the first year Tahbilk became carbon neutral, now we get to drink a wine made from that year, matured in cellar and released for our pleasure. This is in great shape, drinking really well. Shows honeycomb and cracked wheat notes amongst lemon-lime. There’s more wheatiness in the palate with acidity crunchy, almost powdery in a way. It jangles with tang in the palate, softness too, delivering the really lovely honeyed and biscuity notes. It’s so pleasurable and shows that good-maturity in tow. Easy buy for mature white wine enthusiasts. Drink 2019-2025.
