Fruit for the Old Block Shiraz is sourced from low yielding Barossa (73%) and Eden Valley (27%) vines aged between 60 and 100 years old. Maturation takes place in predominately French oak for 20 months. Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep black crimson purple hue. Pronounced aromas of liquorice, ripe blackberries and dark chocolate unravel themselves from the glass followed by vanillin confectionary and a hint of spicy pepper as an end note. Mouthfilling, seamlessly integrated flavours of liquorice, ripe blackberries and dark plums flood the medium to full bodied palate with great intensity and also finesse. Nuances of vanillin cedar, very subtle dark chocolate and spice follow. Perfectly integrated velvet smooth tannins. Excellent power with a long finale of liquorice, blackberry, dark plum, vanillin cedar and spice.
Cellar 8-10 years.
Alc 13.7%
