2012 Skillogalee Riesling

The grapes for this Riesling were grown on low-yielding vines, on the highest slopes of the Skillogalee estate (about 500 metres above sea level). This is really indicative of what 2012 Riesling in South Australia is all about. The vintage received excellent spring and summer rainfall and a long cooling ripening period, tailormade for premium Riesling flavour production and a retention of natural acid in the fruit.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with distinctive greenish tinge around the edges and watery hue. The nose displays excellent intensity with lemon and lime top notes followed by some subtle talc and mineral end notes. Mouthfilling flavours of lemon and lime, along with a touch of orange rind are supported by some steely mineral like characters. Very crisp clean dry finish. Long aftertaste of lemon, lime, orange rind and steely mineral. Yet another top Skillogalee showing terrific acid structure.
