2012 Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir

Matured for 17 months in barrel. Semi translucent dark red core with tinges of black around the edges and a light red hue. Pronounced aromas of ripe dark and black cherries overlaid by violets intermix with dark plum and a hint of anise followed by some gamey earth like notes and spice. Quite light and elegant for Central Otago Pinot the palate also doesn’t deliver the power expected from the region. Flavours of dark and dried cherries intermix with subtle strawberry infusions, earth and spicy cedar. Slightly dryish, fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of dark cherries, earthy cedar and spicy dried herbs.
Cellar 3-4 years.
