The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language. Established in 1980 by leading South Australian viticulturalists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, the Pertaringa vineyards located in the foothills behind McLaren Vale, have consistently produced rich, full flavoured, value for money reds. The soils are enriched from the hills above and the cooler climate further tempered by the sea breezes off St Vincent’s Gulf, sets the scene for the production of high quality wine grapes. Now the sole custodian of Pertaringa, Geoff Hardy has a rich family heritage of working in the wine industry through his family's 160-year old wine business, Thomas Hardy and Sons. As one of the countries top viticulturalists he has been involved in the planting of more than 3,000 hectares of vines and has consulted to more than 200 different vineyards in Australia, France and Italy. His extensive knowledge of viticulture and wine production lends itself to the creation of consistently outstanding wines.

Outstanding colour displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a deep dark purple black hue. Perfumed aromas of ripe blackberries, liquorice and dark plums waft from the glass followed by some subtle dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spice. Full bodied, rich supplely textured flavours of ripe blackberries, dark plums and liquorice swamp the palate with some underlying vanillin oak and spice. Soft opulent mouthfeel with silky smooth tannins. Excellent length with long ripe blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and spicy vanillin oak aftertaste. Limited Stocks.
