O'Leary Walker Wines was established in 2001 by David O'Leary and Nick Walker. These two long time friends already had long, illustrious winemaking careers with big companies, but both were looking to take control of their own destiny and craft small batches of wine from great vineyard sites. This wine brings together two of Australia's top Shiraz districts, being made from 70% Clare Valley fruit and 30% McLaren Vale fruit. The wine was matured entirely in French oak (25% new and 75% seasoned oak) for a total of 2 years.

‘A Rich sumptuous Shiraz that fleshes out beautifully.’

Opaque inky black dark crimson colour with a deep dark crimson black hue. Perfumed liquorice and ripe blackberry scents are followed by a hint of dark chocolate, vanillin confectionary and blackpepper. Full bodied with a rich fleshy texture the palate is swamped with opulent flavours of liquorice, ripe blackberry and dark plum over some subtlety toasted vanillin oak and light black pepper. Impressive concentration and power. Solidly built tannins take on a velvet like appearance beneath the plushly textured fruit. Long rich aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry, toasty vanillin oak and subtle blackpepper.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2014-2020).
Alc 14.5%
