2012 Mr Riggs Piebald Syrah

Ben Riggs Piebald Syrah is sourced predominately from his own vineyard - Piebald Gully located in Clarendon, a sub district of McLaren Vale and small percentage of Viognier is co-fermented with the Syrah to give it an exotic twist.

Totally opaque black purple colour with deep very dark purple hue.The nose shows very good aromatic intensity revealing lifted ripe blackberry and liquorice scents which merge with some meatiness followed by some toasty cedar and spice. Mouthfilling flavours of blackberry and dark plum are to the fore followed by some liquorice, meaty cedar like characters and spicy pepper. Quite refined yet possessing good generosity. Slightly dryish on the finish with solid but fine grained tannins providing an excellent framework. Long blackberry, liquorice, dried meats and spicy pepper aftertaste.
