2012 Mazzei Fonterutoli Chianti Classico

Aged for 12 months in small oak barrels. Very deep dark red black colour with a bright dark red hue. Beautifully scented nose of violets and dark cherries intermixed with a very faint hint of liquorice followed by some cedary tobacco and spice. Medium bodied the palate has a savoury richness about itself featuring flavours of dark cherries and subtle blackcurrants over a background of cedar, light earth and spice. Elegant mouthfeel. Dryish finish with the fine grained tannins showing some grit and grip. Long aftertaste of dark cherries, cedar, light earth and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.
