2012 Masi Riserva Costasera Amarone Classico

Masi’s Riserva is their special cru version of Amarone that sees a minimum of 3 years aging in oak casks. Impenetrable inky black core with a very deep dark red black hue. Intense aniseed, black cherry, black plum and dried cherry scents flow out of the glass followed by scorched earth, vanillin oak and spice notes. Very rich, concentrated and powerful with a thick, viscous mouthfeel, the palate is completely saturated with ripe black cherry, liquorice and black plum fruit that’s held in check by ripe chewy tannins which have a robust feel. Elements of earth, vanillin oak and spice are the undercurrent. Preventing the wine from being cloying is perfectly balanced acidity. Magnificent depth with a very long black fruit driven finish.
