2012 Los Vascos Grande Reserve

Combines new world fruit with old world refinement beautifully

A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenère, 10% Syrah and 5% Malbec that was matured in French oak barrels for 12 months of which 20% was new.

Totally opaque black dark crimson red colour with a deep dark crimson red hue. A little reserved at first the nose eventually yields refined aromas of mulberries, blackcurrant and black olives overlaid by cedary tobacco characters with spice end notes. Rich blackcurrant and subtle liquorice flavours adorn the palate followed by cedary tobacco characters, a hint of black olive and spice. Slightly dryish finish with solid fine grained tannins that are well integrated. Long blackcurrant, cedary tobacco, subtle black olive and spice aftertaste. An excellent value that will handsomely repay cellaring – a recently tasted 2006 vintage of this wine drinking superbly.
