2012 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay

Elegant, rich and powerful this Art Series Chardonnay will blossom superbly in the bottle.

Brilliant very pale straw almost water like colour with a distinctive light greenish tinge around the edges and a watery hue. Intensely scented aromas of delicate white peach, nectarine, dried honey, cashew and nougat fill the nostrils with a hint of cinnamon spice as an end note. Medium weighted the palate is fresh and lively whilst also possessing sense of creaminess which will gain more textural presence over time as the wine fills out. Mouthfilling flavours of white peach intermixed with cashew are followed by dried honey characters, nougat, flinty matchstick and spice. Clean dry finish. Excellent length concluding with a long aftertaste of cashew, white peach, dried honey, flinty matchstick and spicy nougat.

If price wasn't a concern we'd all just want to drink bucket loads of this. It's all class and quality but the drinkability factor is extremely high. It's like sitting with someone expert in the art of conversation; it makes you laugh and cry and lean in closer. Fruit, oak, texture, acidity, length: a hand full of aces, neatly arranged, trim and terrific. Drink by 2025.
