It’s a rare in today’s marketplace to find a South Australian Shiraz hailing from a great vintage that has some decent bottle age behind it. The fact that it’s McLaren Vale based and selling for only $20 makes it even more remarkable.

Rich and sumptuous this bottle aged beauty is selling for a song.

Totally impenetrable black dark red core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Wafting from the glass are alluring aromas of liquorice and dark plum followed by some ripe black cherries, fennel, toasty vanillin cedar, subtle earthy black olive characters and a distinct blackpepper end note. Full in body the rich sumptuous palate is bursting with liquorice and dark plum flavours infused with blackpepper over a backdrop of earthy black olive and smoky vanillin cedar characters. Fleshy mouthfeel with seamlessly integrated yet structural tannins providing the framework. Outstanding length with a long peppery aftertaste of liquorice, dark plum, earthy black olives, spicy scorched vanillin cedar and traces of leather. Outstanding value for a McLaren Vale Shiraz of this age and quality.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
