Home Hill is one of your classic Australian vineyard retreats that functions as both a serious winery and a charming getaway with restaurant included. The focus here is primarily on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sylvaner and Sparkling wine, but their track record really shines with Pinot. Their 2005 release won the Tri Nations Trophy (knocking the Kiwis off their perch for the first time). Subsequent vintages have attracted similar acclaim. Up until the 2010 vintage the wines were made under contract, however, a state of the art winery has now been built and Gilli Lipscombe has taken over the wine making reins. Matured for 15 months in French oak the fruit Kelly’s Reserve is sourced from the middle 12 rows of the vineyard which have had their trellising system modified to reduce the yields as much as possible and in turn produce fruit with greater concentration.

‘A Magnificent Tassie Pinot’

Excellent depth of colour with a deep dark red black tinged core and very dark crimson red hue. Pronounced dark fruit aromas lead the charge on the nose with dark cherry, dark plum and strawberry prevalent over some anise, meatiness, subtlety toasted cedar and spice. Medium bodied the palate possesses a powerful rich flavour profile of ripe dark cherries, dark plum and subtle strawberry over a background of anise, dried meats and spicy cedar. Expansive supple mouthfeel with silky smooth tannins. Outstanding power and concentration with very long and persistent aftertaste of ripe dark cherries, dark plum, light anise, some meatiness and spicy cedar. Very Limited Stocks.
Cellar 6-8 years (2020-2022).
Alc 13.8%
