2012 Gibson Reserve Merlot

A Merlot of Great Complexity and Finesse.

Produced from a blend of 63% Barossa Merlot, 27% Adelaide Hills Merlot and 10% Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon. New French oak hogsheads were predominantly used for maturation. Opaque black crimson colour with a dark crimson red hue. Scented aromas of ripe blackcurrant and dark mulberries are followed by some cedary tobacco characters, faint earth and spice. Medium bodied the palate is elegantly built and also has good underlying richness featuring a refined and savoury profile of blackcurrant and mulberries intermixed with a touch of black olives over some cedary tobacco characters and spice. Very fine grained beautifully balanced tannins. Long aftertaste of blackcurrant, mulberry, black olive and spicy cedary tobacco characters.
