A long established family in this area, the Freys certainly know to make the most of the exceptional terroirs of Alsace. In Dambach la Ville, their biodynamic vineyards sit on Pink Granitic sands ideal for the production of rich and intensely aromatic white wines from Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Their commitment to environmentally friendly viticulture and winemaking is such that in 2011, the Freys completed the construction of a new type of Bioclimatic cellar, at the junction of two underground rivers, where the hygrometry and temperature are naturally regulated.

The Cuvee de L'Ours is whole bunch pressed before undergoing fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Unlike many other parts of the world, Alsatian whites will often go an extended period of maturation on lees, to add aromatic complexity and texture. This delicious Pinot Gris is certainly offering plenty of both.

Brilliant pale straw colour with watery hue. The nose displays aromas of ripe pear, tropical fruits, honeysuckle and a hint of musk. Rich mouthfilling flavours of ripe pear and honeysuckle fill the palate followed by some light lychee and spice. Luscious texture with a touch of sweetness present on the medium dry finish. Long ripe pear, lychee and spicy honeysuckle aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years (2013-2016).
