Our continuing relationship with the Rhone's top viticultural consultant, Philippe Cambie, allows us to introduce his projects on a regular basis, as he takes on new consultancies with off the ground projects or even with well established Domaines, as is the case with Domaine Maby. Considered as one of the "locomotives" in Lirac , Domaine Maby has for long been at the forefront of modernisation in both the cellar and vineyards and are always pursuing new paths to further refine their style. We have narrowed their selection to two wines that we thought would best represent the region, the remarkable "Nessun Dorma" red the alluring "La Fermade" Rose. Their varietal compositions are a little different than what we are used to. We trust you'll find them as novel and appealing as we did. They represent another terrific discovery from the Rhone's vast patchwork of terroirs.

An essential Summer luncheon wine over the coming months.

Lirac is also justly prized for its second specialty - Rose. It is one of two of France’s oldest rose wine districts - the other being nearby Tavel (here only Rose can legally be produced). Both appellations tend to make drier styles with more body than Roses from elsewhere in Southern France. This excellent example has been produced from a blend of Cinsault, Picpoul, Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc grapes. Translucent salmon pink colour with watery salmon pink tinged hue. The nose displays scents of raspberry, ripe cherries and strawberries with some spice end notes. Supple and round in the mouth with delicious textural qualities and a wonderful array of ripe cherry and strawberry followed by a touch of Turkish delight. Finishes dry and spicy. Good length with long spicy ripe cherry and strawberry aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years. Alc 14%
