Introduced due to the relative scarcity of Best’s Thomson Family and Bin 0 Shiraz wines, the Bin 1 Shiraz aims to provide an introduction to Great Western Shiraz style at a price point that gives the wine broader market access. Made predominantly from Best’s own vineyards it combines the varietals generosity with the regions cool climate elegance.

Following on from last years Jimmy Watson Trophy Winner this is a Classic example of Great Western Shiraz that shows plenty of promise for future development.

Totally opaque black purple colour with very deep dark purple hue. The nose offers up fresh scents of blackberry and liquorice followed by a hint of cedary vanillin oak, dried meats and white pepper end notes. Medium to full bodied with a relatively elegant mouthfeel the palate has an abundance of rich blackberry and liquorice flavours overlaid by spicy vanillin cedar followed by some dried meat characters and a peppery finish. Fine grained, sturdy, yet refined tannin structure. Excellent length with long blackberry, dried meats, liquorice and white pepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
