2012 Pascal Agrapart Avizoise Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne Grand Cru

Champagne, FRANCE
$320. 00
Bottle
$3840.00 Dozen
ABV: 12%
Closure: Cork

Disgorged March 2019. Avizoise is sourced from vines of up to 60 years old in the clay-rich (argilo-calcaire) coteaux d’Avize vineyards of Les Robarts and Les Gros Yeux. The richer soils in these two neighbouring sites give a deeper, more powerful and textured expression of Avize than the Minéral. Again, the 2012 does not disappoint although it is still tightly wound for now. Expect a super-complex wine with floral and mixed citrus fruit leading to a long, pithy and chalky close. The wine is aged entirely in 600-litre demi-muid, and the fermentation in bottle is carried out under cork rather than crown seal. Dosage is 3 g/L and the 2012 spent around 70 months on lees.

Other Reviews....
The 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru L’Avizoise is another riveting wine from Pascal Agrapart. Here, too, the interplay of textural richness and finesse is utterly captivating. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and orchard fruit all develop, but it is the wine's feel and stunning balance that make it impossible to resist a second taste, and then a third. L'Avizoise emerges from old vine parcels in the Robards and Voie d'Epernay lieux-dits. In a word: exceptional!
