This is the flagship label in the Cobos stable named in honour of Juan Francisco Cobos who introduced poplar trees to Mendoza to develop windbreaks for farming in the early 1800´s. The trees still line the region's roads. 500 cases were made of this super-cuvee (80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Malbec) sourced from the oldest ungrafted Malbec and 16-year-old Cabernet vines from the Marchiori vineyard, located on Cobos street in Perdriel (Lujan de Cuyo). It was aged in new Taransaud French oak barrels for 18 months.

Impenetrable midnight black colour with a very deep dark crimson hue, this conjures alluring, decadent and heady scents of black cherries, cassis and liquorice over subtle dark chocolate, smoke, vanillin oak, dried meat and spice notes. Off the charts concentration and richness with a huge core of fruit ; Engulfs the palate with plush layers of cassis, black cherry and liquorice to the fore over smoky vanillin cedar, dried meat and spice. Exceptionally long aftertaste of black cherries, cassis, liquorice, toasty oak, dried meat and spice. Solid tannins and big oak in this will take some decanting to resolve for early drinking. It is a gargantuan of a wine that should go at least 10-15 years and start to drink well over the next 5-6. Consider it Argentina's equivalent to Penfolds Grange.
