In 2011 the challenging vintage conditions meant that no super premium wines such Laird, Run Rig & The Factor were produced by Torbreck. The beneficiary of that fruit were the few wines that were produced including the Woodcutters Shiraz.
Opaque black purple colour with dark purple red hue. The nose presents itself with dark ripe plum and liquorice scents to the fore followed by some blackberry, smoky characters and a touch of spice. Impressively endowed with rich ripe fruit the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice followed by a touch of smoke and a spicy back palate. Opulent fleshy texture with velvet smooth tannins. Long dark plum, liquorice and smoky spice aftertaste. An excellent effort especially when one takes into account the general reputation of the vintage.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc 14.5%
