2011 Robert Oatley The Pennant Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon

Matured for 12 months in new and 1 year old tight grained low toast French oak.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a very deep dark red black tinged hue. The nose offers up scented blackcurrant and mulberry aromas intermixed with some fresh tobacco and cedary cigar box like characters followed by some black olive and spice. Medium to full bodied with rich, opulent blackcurrant and mulberry flavours dominate over fresh tobacco and cigar box characters with traces of black olive and spicy cedar also present. The tobacco/cigar box characters are perhaps a tad too prominent on the finish. Slightly dryish but otherwise fine grained tannins. Medium to long aftertaste of blackcurrant infused with fresh tobacco, cigar box, black olives and spicy cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
