A Margaret River Cabernet that offers real value for money.

Winemaker Peter Gambetta is becoming somewhat of a Cabernet Sauvignon specialist, already well regarded for his brilliant efforts in Coonawarra, being responsible for the outstanding Yalumba Menzies and Yalumba Cigar Cabernets. He has also been working at forging a reputation in Australia’s other classic Cabernet producing region – Margaret River. In 2011 whilst most of the Eastern states were enduring one of the most challenging vintages in recent decades the Margaret River region experienced an outstanding 2011 vintage producing fruit of superb quality and fruit intensity. The 2011 Ringbolt Cabernet Sauvignon was matured for a period of 10 months in a combination of 72% French oak Hogsheads & Barriques (17% new oak) and 28% American oak Hogsheads ( 11% new oak). Opaque black dark crimson red colour with dark purple red hue. The nose offers up mulberry and bay leaf top notes followed by some cedary cigar box and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate presents dusty mulberry and blackcurrant flavours followed by some cedary tobacco and spice characters. It combines a sense of elegance with some richness. Dryish finish with solidly built yet fine grained tannin structure. Excellent length with long dark mulberry, cedar, tobacco and spice aftertaste.
