Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. The nose offers up ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry aromas over vanillin cedar, liquorice, faint earthy cigar box and spice. Rich luscious palate with succulent ripe blackcurrant and liquorice flavours dominate over dusty vanillin cedar, cigar box and spicy scorched earth. Slightly dryish, chewy tannins. Aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, liquorice, cigar box, earth and spice.

Other Reviews…
This is fully flared wine that manages to harness Peel's tendency toward largesse- generosity of fruit flavour, intensity and abundant oak-with a disciplined line of cabernet currant, dried tobacco, stiff-upper lipped tannins and bright acidity. The overall effect is one of sapidity, power and yet, a most welcome savour and restraint. There is something 'warm vintage Bordeaux' about this, with gravelly ball-bearing-tannins growing in authority as the wine opens. This will age very well. Drink by 2036.
