This is a prime example demonstrating how much better McLaren Vale fared in comparison to many of the other major South Australian wine regions such as the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra and Clare Valley receiving much less rainfall during the rain drenched, challenging 2011 vintage. Some of the over the top Mollydooker voluptuousness has been slightly toned down by the cooler vintage conditions, but the wines lose none of their flamboyant richness and exuberant textures.

Even in a challenging vintage Sarah & Sparky Marquis manage to produce wines with a Wow factor that are overflowing with flavour.

Barrel fermented and matured in 100% American oak using 60% new and 40% one year old barrels. Opaque black dark purple colour with dark purple red hue. The nose displays scents of ripe blackberry and liquorice followed by some vanillin oak and blackpepper. The palate boasts Mollydookers reknown opulence and richness with bountiful fruit flavours of ripe blackberry and dark plum followed by some chocolate bullets, vanillin oak and a peppery finish. Velvet smooth tannins finishing with a long black plum, liquorice, vanillin oak and spicy blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 3-4 years (2016-2017).
Alc 15.50%
