2011 Fraser Gallop Estate Cabernet Merlot

A very successful marriage!
Cabernet and Merlot work well because the structural tannins of Cabernet are tamed by the inherent mid-palate richness and softness of the Merlot grape. Fraser Gallop aim for a Cabernet Merlot that has greater freshness from a shorter barrel maturation. Deep dark crimson red colour with crimson red hue. The nose displays ripe mulberry and bay leaf top notes followed by some tobacco like characters and spicy cedar. Very approachable now the palate possesses a soft rounded mouthfeel with flavours of ripe mulberry fruit, cedar, tobacco, bay leaf and spice. Very fine grained soft tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe mulberry, cedary tobacco and spice.
Drink over the next 2-3 years (2012-2015).
