2011 Felton Road Bannockburn Pinot Noir

A superb central Otago Pinot Noir and unquestionably one of New Zealand's best.
Arguably Central Otago’s leading producer of Pinot Noir, Felton Road have three vineyard properties totalling 32 hectares in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. The wine was matured for 11 months in French oak. Deep dark crimson red purple colour with purple mauve hue. Ripe dark cherry, plum and anise notes dominate the nose followed by some toasty oak, gamey meat like notes and a touch of spice. The palate delivers an outstanding power wave of flavour with rich dark cherries and dark plum fruit supported by some anise, well integrated toasty oak, game and spice. Velvet smooth tannins. Very long ripe dark cherry, dark plum, anise and spice aftertaste.
