2011 Douglas Laing & Co. Provenance Jura 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Islay's north eastern island cousin is covered in peat, but it's not heavily used in Jura's whisky production. Small amounts of peated distillate are sometimes blended to give added complexity (the core range is subtly smokey), however this expression shows the malt in its 'naked' guise. Distilled in 2011 and matured for eight years in a single refill hogshead, notes from the bottlers suggest a "A sea-salty/maritime character that quickly develops to butterscotch and fruit salad. Long with...vanilla cream style, golden syrup and hot-cross buns." 323 bottles from one refill barrel. Non chill filtered. 46% Alc./Vol.
