Nicolas Catena has been instrumental in Argentina’s progress over the last three decades in bringing the country's wine industry into line with world class standards. What you can now get for your money in the present day climate are seriously good expressions of the nation's signature varietal, Malbec, that rival many Australian reds for punch and price.
Opaque black crimson red colour with crimson purple black hue. The nose displays aromas of ripe black cherries followed by a touch of liquorice, cedar, earth and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate possesses a rich flavoursome profile of black cherries, subtle liquorice and earth with some underlying cedar and a spicy back palate. Slightly chewy but fine grained tannins with long black cherry, liquorice, earth and spice aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years. Alc 13.5%
