Named after Stuart Blackwell who has been the wine maker at St Hallett since 1972 the fruit for Blackwell Shiraz is sourced exclusively from the north and western slopes of the Barossa Valley. These areas of the Barossa include Seppeltsfield, Marananga, Greenock and Ebenezer. Maturation took place in American oak for a period of 20 months with the richest parcels of fruit being aged in new American oak with the balance in second and third use barrels.

Outstanding super saturated inky black purple colour with very deep black purple hue. On the nose lifted liquorice and blackberry notes are followed by some vanillin confectionary, a touch of mocha and spice. Full bodied the palate is flooded with rich bold flavours of liquorice, blackberry, vanillin confectionary, blackpepper and spice. Very fine grained velvety tannins. Good depth with medium to long liquorice, blackberry, confectionary and blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years (2017-2018).
Alc 14.5%
