2010 Sons Of Eden Remus Old Vine Eden Valley Shiraz

A very classy and refined Eden Valley Shiraz.
Matured for 22 months in French oak. Totally opaque black dark purple colour with very deep dark purple hue showing excellent colour saturation. Nosing reveals an aromatic profile of liquorice and black plum followed by some dried meats subtle toasty oak and pepper. Full bodied and rich but elegantly textured the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of black cherry, dark plum and liquorice followed by some dried meats subtle toastiness and blackpepper. Slightly dryish finish with fine grained yet relatively firmly built tannins. Excellent length with long black cherry, dark plum, liquorice, dried meats and blackpepper aftertaste.

A slightly brighter, more red, hue than Romulus; a complex, luscious wine that shows its 22-month maturation in mainly new French oak; the fruit flavours are in a black cherry and spice spectrum, the tannins plentiful but ripe, reflecting the minimal fining. Drink by 2030.
