Matured in a combination of new and older (up to 4 year old) French oak barriques for a period of 15 months. Totally opaque black crimson colour with deep dark crimson red hue. Ripe blackberry and liquorice scents dominate the nose with an overlay of toasty oak and some subtle spice end notes. The palate is surprisingly full bodied, rich and joosy, more akin to a South Australian styled Shiraz. Mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice are followed by some vanillin confectionary and spice. Very fine grained perfectly balanced tannin structure. Long aftertaste of liquorice, blackberry, confectionary and spice.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.5%
