A Magnificent McLaren Vale Shiraz.

The name Pertaringa means 'belonging to the hills' and originates from the local Kaurna indigenous language. Established in 1980 by leading South Australian viticulturalists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, the Pertaringa vineyards located in the foothills behind McLaren Vale, have consistently produced rich, full flavoured, value for money reds. The soils are enriched from the hills above and the cooler climate further tempered by the sea breezes off St Vincent’s Gulf, sets the scene for the production of high quality wine grapes. Now the sole custodian of Pertaringa, Geoff Hardy has a rich family heritage of working in the wine industry through his family's 160-year old wine business, Thomas Hardy and Sons. As one of the countries top viticulturalists he has been involved in the planting of more than 3,000 hectares of vines and has consulted to more than 200 different vineyards in Australia, France and Italy. His extensive knowledge of viticulture and wine production lends itself to the creation of consistently outstanding wines.
Bursting with richness and a pure textural silkiness the Over the Top Shiraz floats across the palate.

Matured for 20 months in fine-grained French oak. Outstanding impenetrable inky black colour with very deep black crimson hue. A perfumed array of aromas emerge from the glass with ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum intermixed with dark chocolate followed by some mocha and vanillin oak. Rich and powerful in the mouth opulent flavours of liquorice, blackberry, dark chocolate, vanillin confectionary and spice fill every inch of the palate in decadent fashion. Superb concentration and depth work in tandem with a plush texturally polished mouthfeel. Velvet smooth tannins with very long ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate and spicy vanillin mocha oak characters.
