An outstanding 2010 McLaren Vale Shiraz that delivers big bang for your buck.

The Oliver family have been growing grapes in McLaren Vale since the 1840s. Their descendants arrived from Scotland and settled in the McLaren Vale district, raising sheep and cattle as well as establishing an orchard and vineyard. Today, the emphasis still remains on growing super premium quality grapes for other winemakers (around 85% of their production is sold to the likes of Penfolds) whilst a small portion of the best fruit is retained for sale under their own Oliver's Taranga label.

The Olivers describe 2010 as close to perfect as you can get and one of the best of the decade .

After a few years of heat waves and droughts, 2010 was perfect with a mild growing season, rain at all the right times and no heat shocks. Superb saturated inky black colour – totally impenetrable with deep black dark red hue. The nose exhibits an alluring perfumed scent of dark plum and dark chocolate followed by some more subtle notes of blackberry and liquorice with an overlay of vanillin mocha like characters. Boasting tremendous richness and a pure textural silkiness the palate is bursting with dark plum, dark chocolate and liquorice flavours with overtones of mocha and vanillin spice. Velvet smooth tannins in conjunction with the wines fleshy fruit profile impart a plush mouthfeel. Very long dark plum, dark chocolate, liquorice, mocha and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years (2013-2018).
