Fruit for this wine is sourced from a property at Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills known as 'Wyebo', it was originally purchased by Leo O'Leary (David's O'Leary's Grandfather). The wine has spent over two years in small French oak hogsheads which age between new, one and two year old oak.
A superb example of Adelaide Hills Shiraz that showcases the districts capabilities for the varietal and rivals the best of Shaw & Smith.
Opaque black dark crimson red colour with deep dark crimson red hue. The nose displays pronounced liquoricy top notes followed by some blackpepper, blackberry, meaty characters and spice. Full bodied the palate possesses excellent richness with mouthfilling flavours of liquorice, blackpepper and dark ripe plum followed by some smoked meaty characters and spice. Excellent depth. Dry finish with velvet smooth tannins and very long liquorice, ripe blackberry, blackpepper and spicy smoked meats aftertaste.
Cellar 4-5 years (2016-2017).
