Ben Riggs Piebald Syrah is sourced predominately from his own vineyard - Piebald Gully located in Clarendon, a sub district of McLaren Vale and small percentage of Viognier is co-fermented with the Syrah to give it an exotic twist.
Totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple black hue. Very perfumed nose with scents of liquorice and ripe blackberry dominate followed by some dark plum and confectionary. Full bodied with a supple plush texture the palate delivers lavish flavours of rich perfectly ripened blackberry and dark plum followed by some liquorice and subtle toasty oak which is well concealed beneath the wealth of fruit finishing with a spicy back palate. Velvet smooth tannins with very long blackberry, dark plum and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2013-2018).
