Produced from 100% Chardonnay, Louis Roederer’s Blanc de Blancs is aged for 5 years on lees and 20% of the wine is vinified in oak casks. A very frothy mousse shows good buoyancy over a pale straw coloured base wine that has hints of pale gold around the edges. Showing great persistence is an exceptionally fine stream of tiny bubbles. Very refined and classy the nose exhibits delicate pear and citrus aromatics which intermingle with yeast lees, fresh baked bread characters and a touch of biscuit. Elegant, long and loaded with finesse there’s an airy smoothness to the mouthfeel. Flavours of fresh citrus tied to yeast lees and bready characters are followed by brioche and a delicate toastiness. Fresh stimulating finish with nervy acidity providing some tension. Long aftertaste of citrus, yeast lees, fresh bread, brioche and emerging toast.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
