Chateau Lafite Rothschild is one of the five Great Growths of Bordeaux, and amongst the world's most expensive bottles of wine. Not content with the success of just one vineyard, over the last 30 years, the owners of Chateau Lafite, Domaines Barons de Rothschild, have made strategic acquisitions around the globe, selecting specific sites that possess the terroir required to produce exciting New World wines with Lafite Rothschild's unique First Growth stamp. One of their first new world ventures was that of Los Vascos in Chile’s Colchagua Valley. A Superb Chilean clone of top flight Bordeaux at a fraction of the price.
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenère and 5% Syrah matured for 18 months in new French oak barrels. Totally opaque black crimson colour with deep dark crimson purple hue. Perfumed nose showing uplifted scents of ripe blackcurrant, cedar and mulberry with an overlay of tobacco cigar box like characters and some spice end notes. A marriage of elegance and intensity the palate delivers a rich mouthfilling flavour experience of blackcurrant, ripe dark mulberry, cedary tobacco and spice. Outstanding length with slightly dryish but otherwise velvet smooth tannins. Very long aftertaste of dark mulberry, blackcurrant, tobacco and spicy cedar.
