Matured in a combination of 75% French oak and 25% American oak barriques with 25% being new and the balance 2 & 3 year old for a period of 15 months. The wine displays an impenetrable midnight black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Nosing reveals a flamboyant aromatic profile of ripe blackberries intermixed with liquorice and dark chocolate followed by some confectionary, vanillin cedar and spice. Dense, rich and powerful with an opulently textured feel the palate is swamped with decadent flavours of ripe blackberries, liquorice and black cherries over some meatiness, vanillin cedar and spice. Solidly constructed tannins provide some grip and the necessary support base to the dense dark fruit. Very long aftertaste of blackberries, liquorice, black cherries, spicy vanillin cedar and a touch of meatiness.
Cellar 6-8 years.
Alc 15%
