It is fair to say that Sancerre rarely fails to impress and over the years, we have been featuring a number of great value offerings, so much so that it would be rather tempting to conclude we have gone full circle in unearthing the best bargains and the most emblematic producers. Thankfully, every so often we are reminded of the contrary and here enters Franck Millet, a third generation vigneron at the helm of his 22 hectare family estate in the village of Bue, to the south west of the Sancerre appellation.

Outstanding value!

Franck came to our attention through his cuvee "Insolite" for which he selects the grapes from his chalkiest vineyards, although the originality of "insolite" resides in the rather daring winemaking process. However the price/quality ratio found in his entry level wine makes for one of the best buys in Sancerre in recent decades.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with watery hue. The nose displays citrus, green apple and lime top notes followed by some flinty mineral characters. Crisp and refreshing the palate delivers flavours of citrus with a mineral infusion followed by some lime. Dry flinty finish. Aftertaste of lime and flinty mineral.
Drink over the next 2 years (2012-2014).
Alc 12.5%
