A Pinot Noir with superb fruit purity, richness and power.

As of 2005, Judy Gifford has taken the reigns as Darling Park’s Winemaker/General Manager. Her formal training came via the University of Burgundy, and she's subsequently made wine for some of the Mornington Peninsula’s most respected labels. Pinot noir is at the top of her list and she values low crops, organic growing, indigenous yeasts, a moderate use of oak and is generally fairly traditional (read French-influenced modern Australian) with her winery practices. It's a compelling pedigree that's translated into a superb Pinot at an extraordinary price. The fruit for this wine is sourced from both the higher, cooler and lower, warmer sub-regions of the Mornington Peninsula. Semi translucent dark crimson red colour with light red hue. The nose presents a perfumed aromatic profile of dark ripe cherries, dark plum and anise followed by a hint of toasty oak and spice. Light to medium weight the palate possesses good richness and a superb power wave with mouthfilling flavours of ripe dark cherries, dark plum, anise, some well integrated cedary oak and a spicy finish. Velvet smooth tannins. Very long ripe dark cherry, anise, cedar and spice aftertaste.
