Chateau La Tour Blanche takes its name from the founder of the estate, Jean Saint Marc du Latourblanche, and is one of the most respected producers in Sauternes. The 40 hectares of vines used for their grand vin are planted in one large parcel with a prime location close to the Ceron river, and the soils are a mix of gravel, clay, sand, and limestone. Planted here is a combination of 83% Semillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc, and an unusually high proportion of Muscadelle at 5%. The Semillon is aged in 35% new, French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, while the Sauvignon Blanc and the Muscadelle are aged for 16-18 months in stainless steel vats before blending and bottling.

Other Reviews....
Pale to medium lemon-gold color, the 2010 la Tour Blanche is a total spice bomb, featuring wonderfully redolent notes of nutmeg, coriander seed, cinnamon stick and powdered ginger with a core of pineapple upside-down cake, poached pears and bread dough. The palate is suitably rich and yet beautifully balanced, lending a refreshing, deceptively ethereal quality that will have you reaching for another irresistible glass. Yum! Drink 2020 - 2040.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Wine Advocate (Mar 2020)

The 2010 La Tour Blanche is well endowed on the nose with scents of acacia honey, yellow plum and orange rind, just a touch of saffron emerging with time (a leitmotif of this vintage.) The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This feels spicier than its peers, finely tuned towards the finish with a touch of ginger on the aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. Drink 2023-2050.

Sweet flowery nose with honeysuckle, white peach and candied lemon peel. This Sauternes is very sweet and well-structured on the palate with a good acidity and pure white fruit. Elegant and charming. Drink now or hold.
